Lady of the Lourdes 5K

Elijiahs school had a 5k race this morning...I offered to register folks prior to the race so we needed to get to SLC bright and EARLY! We left Elijiah with my Mom and Layne and thought we would take Tristan with us in the jogging stroller. The morning was bright and sunny BUT very COLD!!! I registered hundreds of people and I literally froze and I thought I would die.( I know Im dramatic but really its the truth!!) Well just prior to the race I probably should have tried to warm up a bit but Jonathan and I didnt think we would run much just walk a good chunk of the race.
Well walking wasnt getting me warm so I jogged a bit, and eventually got a bit warmer. However due to the course- it was a bit up and down, and my knee started to really bother me on the way down the last mile. I knew I was in trouble at the end when I couldnt even run, and walking was hurting me. Jonathan finished long before me and all in all it was a fun morning. However I have re-injured my knee, which took almost 2 years to heal from my last running injury all because I got cold before a run. You can say Im a little ticked considering we are coming into spring/summer when its great to be outdoors. GRRRR! Anyway here are a couple photos from the race. Im a bit sad we didnt snap some in the beginning...there were lots of people dressed up in green, wearing hats, beads, some full on decked out in St. Patricks themed outfits...good times!

Okay- in my blog hopping the other day, I came across this video...I hope you all find it equally inspiring and uplifting. I only wish I was so eloquent at 20. ENJOY!(Mormon girl attending Harvard- she is speaking at a Day of Faith Conference)

When is walking walking?

Tristan has been taking steps here and there...for a a while now. Nothing big. 2 steps here. 3 steps there. But last night he surprised us all when he went for all of Elijiahs star war toys from across the room. He left his walker, and just kept going- and going all the way from one end to the other end of the living room. My mom and I just stared at eachother in surprise. Of course we started to clap and get excited. I dont think Tristan knew what he did as he immediately sat back down. So we tried again- this time going between Mom and I. He did it again. I called for Jonathan - and of course he was done performing. Then he was up trying it again on his own. So this got me thinking. Does this count? Is he officially walking? Im not sure. When I think about Elijiah I didnt count him walking till he was "off" walking on his own all the time- 12 months and 1 week. But now looking at Tristan - this was a major event! Perhaps Ill mark this milestone as the "beginning" of his walking adventure.....

Our little bugs

Bugs isnt so little anymore, but certainly gets into everything...over the weekend I decided to get out the camara and document several things he was doing, and boy did I catch him in the midst of his typical day. Mom is trying to do her nails before church and Tristan wants to be part of the action...this doesnt really surprise me. Afterall Elijiah wanted his toes painted and I the good mom that I was, dutifully painted them! However Tristan didnt want us to paint his toes, he wanted to eat the nail polish! Isnt he cute!?

(dont worry honey we never left him alone for a minute!)

My sweet Niece

Sy and Medusa
Nancy- Sy- and Dad
Sylah, Lana, Jessica

My sister Jessica sent some pictures over the weekend. (Sylah my niece, and her cat, My dad and Nancy and Lana at the Juan Diego play " Beauty and Beast",) and I had to post!! I dont get to see my sister all that often. Our lives our busy and we dont live that close anymore. I adore all my sisters but Jessica and I had a rough go there for a while. We werent all that close in age, but when my parents divorced I moved back in with my mom to help her out and it was then Jessica and I clashed. However over the years Id like to think we have grown close. She and I got pregnant within months of eachother and she took wonderful care of Elijiah for me that first year. It was then that our relationship took root. Jessica is smart, funny, beautiful, talented, and very loving. Shes a wonderful mother, and Sylah is all girl much to Jessica dismay I think. Jessica used to tell us not to buy pink for her as an example....but I secretly loved it when Sylah would refuse to wear anything but skirts and LOVED dolls and ALL things PINK! HAha! Growing up the eldest of 4 sisters, we all are vastly different. However we are all very close. Jessica and I swap out babysitting for one another and I love how Elijiah and Sy have a great friendship and love for eachother. They tolerate playing the "girl" and "boy" stuff the other likes to do I know they wouldnt normally because they have grown up together. Anyway I wanted to post a couple of cute photos of my adorable Sy since my sister refuses to get on the blog bandwagon!

I suck at blogging...

Lack of time lately is my excuse... Our lives are going full speed like everyone else- I know I know, no real excuse for not keeping up right? We have the typical one hour and 15 minute commute to and from work - and I have the two kids to drop off and collect before and after work each day, homework, piano, dinner prep and eating, playtime, and separate bath time, bottle time, and bedtime, story time with each kid. Then comes the daily workout time for Jonathan and I and then off goes Jonathan to study. Its then time for clean up, and lunch making and shower and maybe--- just maybe a little reading before my head hits the pillow before our day starts all over again at 5am. Its exhausting, mind numbing, difficult, and throw in a car thats been in the shop most of the week and trying to do that with one car, Jonathan in school, 2 migraines, having to work in Logan one day this past week, and there you have it, my lack of posting for the week.

Fun stuff. Dinner talk is of the economy...is this stuff scary or what? Obama? WOW Im a little worried I have to be honest. Too much too fast. If all you are reading is mainstream media, start digging a little deeper. Thats all I have to say.
