Art anyone?

Through a strange twist of luck, we are about to be the proud new owners of this original piece of art. Seriously in love with her stuff. Im soooo excited. Not sure where it will go in the house yet...but we will figure it out. Initially we decided not to buy it as the timing wasnt right for a variety of reasons. Casey( the artist ) contacted me regarding a new development and we decided to go for it anyway.

check her stuff out!

The time has come

Enough is enough. Our escape artist is going to get a rude awakening shortly. While QUITE pricy, my sanity is more important I think. Case in point. If the child doesnt want to nap-he climbs out. If he decides at 8pm he doesnt want to sleep, he climbs out and comes upstairs with books in hand for us to read to him. Jonathan finds it endearing and cute. Honestly so did I the first couple of days. Now Im just annoyed. This morning he woke up before 5am, and I thought he would be content to watch his movie for a while...letting me sleep just a little longer. No way says he...at 5:30 armed with a bunch of books he turns on my lamp, dumps the books on my head and says "Book!". Now its not that I dont love my adorable bugs- but come on! There isnt any threat that can keep him in his crib....but this invention well lets see who has the last laugh!!! HAHA! I cant wait to see his face once installed and he tries to get out. LOL! We are such mean parents!

This one is for Jenna

For my sister who loves soup on a cold winter day as much as I do:

Tomato Bisque
5 cloves of garlic- chopped
1 large shallot- chopped
1/4 stick of butter
3 large cans of diced tomatoes
1 quart tomato juice
1 quart of heavy whipping cream
3 tbs honey
1 small bunch of fresh basil
salt and pepper to taste

melt butter, add garlic and shallots. add diced tomatoes and juice- simmer for about 10 minutes. add cream and honey. simmer another 10-15 minutes. add basil. Puree in batches returning to pot. add salt and pepper to taste.

YUMMY!

what did you do this weekend?

...Well we moved my mother and step father for the most part. I cannot tell you what an awful job it was- and still is for them. With many many men, and helpers, (hired a moving company) sunday still had them with another 26ft moving truck filled to the rim and no place to put it once in SLC. There were still odds and ends to go back today from the old house and the new house was packed full. My mom and Layne are depressed and tired. Its a challenge to downsize to a 2500 sq ft house (with an unfinished basement to make it 3500 sq ft) from a fully finished 5000 st ft + plus house. I think the game plan is to rent a storage unit and move a bunch of stuff back out of the house and into the storage unit until the basement is finished. Honestly though - they have SO much stuff. TIME for a DI RUN! Im sooo sorry you guys...what an awful move for you! On the plus size while a lot smaller for them, its a beautful house and I think they will be very happy with it once everything is organized.
As for houses and updates, we are still a few weeks away from closing on our home. The problem is that this being our "3rd" choice house, we were the back up offer on our "1st" choice home and as of last week, we may have a chance of getting that one after all. Its the same floor plan as the one we have now, BUT we like the colors of the cabinets, and granite a bit more, AND THE BASEMENT IS FINISHED all for 5k LESS than the house we are currently under contract with. SOOOOO- if the other buyers fall through - we will start the closing process AGAIN and lose 2K on the current house. However everything has to be done within 2 weeks. SO we are waiting to find out if it happens or not. The only bummer thing is-both houses are next to eachother haha!

Pain Scale?

Worst ER experience ever! So when one has a migraine and in serious pain, do you think as a nurse, technician etc, you would speak loudly, keep lights on, bang doors coming and going? Yea me either! My 3 day headache broken up only a few hours at a time with medication only to come back ended late last night with a trip to the ER. On the pain scale it was an 8. The only time I say my headaches are a 10 on that pain scale is when I start to throw-up with them. So I was a little peeved when I was asked to take my clothes off( why you only need my arm!) Lights were on, people were talking loud, lots of comings and goings with DR, Nurses, Techs, Patient reps! GRRR
I also realized that I have an averse reaction to one of the drugs in the "cocktail" of stuff they give. Again I was not only totally out of it, but unable to control the "feeling of crawling out of my skin" for hours. I awoke out of a stupor angry, upset and even annoyed at Jonathan! Can you imagine! Here he had to take the day off, and took care of Tristan, me etc and I have the nerve to be upset with him! CRAZY.
Today im pain free, but still feel like the walking dead. The upside is that I now have another daily preventative medication used by cardio patients that people with migraines are seeing success with. GREAT! I love being a science experiment!

Sundance 2010

Its that time of the year! SUNDANCE and that means that Allison came up for the festival and we got to all hang out again! This group of girls have been friends since 1996. Its crazy to think about all that we have been through. I love these women!

(me, Tisha, Ali, Brenda, Abbie)

Okay Tish what are you doing?? Really she is the funniest girl you will ever meet. Last year after a crazy night and alone on the bus...she did a strip dance for us...every time we get together we can count on Tish for laughter. Im not even going to say whats going on here. Lets just say after this...it was time to go!
This little display was a ton of fun...it put various comic strip sayings over you. If you wore one of the badges - you could enter your facebook page and it would personalize the "sayings" on which it would display -based upon features you had on your page. VERY COOL!
After we got up there--- we were STARVING and eating was a priority...so a little lunch was in order!

We capped the evening off with a LONG walk back to Ali's place for more munching that night and catching up. So good to have these girls in my life!
